I am sitting in the infusion waiting room with Tim, He is getting ready to go back for his last round of chemo. Since February 3rd, I have dreamed of this day... what it would be like... how we would feel?... would still have the same relationship we did when we started this journey?
Well, this day has come, and it feels GREAT!!! This journey has not been an easy one by any means, but now, looking back, it doesn't seem that bad. I would even go so far as to say it went by fast. Tim might disagree with that statement, however. I think what helped us the most, was we kept open lines of communication with each other. I always asked how he was feeling (most of the time he lied and said "ok.") and I made sure to voice how I was feeling, too (something that has always come easy to me-haha). I am of the opinion that if you don't keep communicating, cancer and chemo will chew you up and spit you out so fast, you won't even see it coming.
Now we have nothing but good things to look forward to. We are going on a cruise the first week in September. Tim's mom is coming to keep Leyton. This will be the first time we have left him for any real length of time. Is is bad that I am really looking forward to it? We are going to bring the computer and webcam so we can skype him. I hope that will help him know we aren't gone for good.
I am sure you can tell by my lack of follow up that the Grand Hotel trip has been cancelled. The oil spill really put a damper on that plan. I just couldn't sign a contract for rooms not knowing how bad the gulf was going to get. Tim really shouldn't be around those fumes. I guess none of us really should. We are still looking to celebrate. Any ideas? I am open to anything!
Thanks to everyone out there in blogland for your continued thoughts and prayers. I look forward to every one's comments every time I post something. It has always made me feel less alone in the process.
I must also thank my wonderful husband for his continued strength. I always knew he was strong, but I could have never imagined just how strong he could be. You are truly and inspiration to everyone who has the honor of calling you their friend. I love you more now than I ever have.
Much Love,
Annie
